Magelang, Indonesia

June 19 to 26, 2027

“Shaping Futures: Healing Bodies, Minds, and Communities”

Dear Friends, The 20th Sakyadhita Conference will be held in 2027, not 2026.

We apologize for the error.

Sakyadhita warmly invites you to our 20th International Conference on Buddhist Women, celebrating the 40th anniversary of Sakyadhita’s founding.

The 2027 conference theme, Shaping Futures: Healing Bodies, Minds, and Communities, highlights compassionate leadership as a catalyst for personal

well-being, social transformation, and global responsibility.

The conference venue will be the Grand Artos Hotel near Borobudur,

the renowned 9th-century Buddhist temple that is the largest temple in the world.

Rooted in Buddhist values of compassion, mindfulness, and wisdom, the conference explores how Buddhist women can foster resilience, promote justice, and strengthen communities and the environment. Honoring the longstanding contributions of women in caregiving, leadership, and community-building, the conference also

looks toward a more equitable and interconnected future within and beyond Buddhist communities. By bringing ancient Buddhist wisdom into dialogue with contemporary global concerns, the conference underscores the enduring relevance

of Buddhist teachings in today’s world.

Special attention will be given to Buddhist education, youth empowerment, and the role of younger generations in shaping compassionate and sustainable futures.

In a time of increasing polarization, participants are invited to explore how

spiritual practice can cultivate peace, understanding, and solidarity across cultures and religions. This is a call to nurture both individual and collective well-being through compassion and interconnectedness.

Suggested topics include:

1. Compassion and Buddhist Approaches to Mental and Emotional Well-being
